Rob Fleming, Minister of Education, has appointed Mike McKay as special advisor to the Cariboo-Chilcotin School District (SD 27) to help the district address its challenges, and respond to the recommendations in Dianne Turner’s report to ensure student success in the community.

The Government of British Columbia has underscored its commitment to work with Indigenous peoples in the spirit of respect and collaboration by introducing a set of draft principles designed to guide the daily work of provincial government employees. Don Wright, head of the BC Public Service shared the draft principles with all 27,000 public service employees on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

Almost 400 young students in Burnaby can look forward to having a safer school with the announcement of a $6.7-million seismic upgrade at École Armstrong Elementary.

For the first time, representatives of B.C.’s public, independent and First Nations schools, police, health authorities, and child and youth mental-health workers have come together under one roof, focused on how to make life better for students struggling with mental-health issues.  

Two organizations that help at-risk students improve their physical and mental well-being will each receive grants of $150,000 from the Government of British Columbia.
