B.C.’s First Quarterly Report continues to forecast a balanced budget in each of the next three years thanks to built-in prudence that has helped offset the effects of lower commodity prices, economic volatility, and the high cost of the fire season, Finance Minister Michael de Jong announced today.

The B.C. government's third consecutive balanced budget builds toward a stronger and more diversified economy and delivers additional support to British Columbians who are most in need.

B.C. remains on target to balance the 2014-15 Budget with a projected year-end surplus of $444 million, up by $178 million since the First Quarterly Report.

Despite challenges to the fiscal plan from wildfires and flood-related costs, B.C. is currently on target to balance the 2014-15 budget.
