Effective at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, campfires will once again be permitted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Despite cooler temperatures and scattered showers in some areas of the Prince George Fire Centre, the fire danger rating still ranges from “high” to “extreme”.

The fire danger rating in the Northwest Fire Centre currently ranges from “high” to “extreme”. Dry conditions are expected to continue and no substantial rainfall is in the forecast.

People living in the communities of Canal Flats, Elkford and Invermere may notice large columns of smoke in the air as a result of proactive burning starting on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, around the lightning-caused wildfires that make up the White Complex.

The public may see increased smoke and flame activity on the China Nose Fire this afternoon associated with a planned controlled burn-off to establish solid containment lines.

An Area Restriction Order for areas near a group of fires east of Canal Flats has been rescinded effective immediately.

The China Nose fire experienced minimal growth last night, but the fire is still uncontrolled and weather conditions remain conducive to extreme fire behaviour.

Effective at 4 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, Aug. 15, campfires once again will be permitted throughout the Southeast Fire Centre's jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, campfires will once again be allowed within the Fraser Fire Zone (most of the Lower Fraser Valley) of the Coastal Fire Centre.
