Effective at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 3, the open burning prohibition in the Cariboo Fire Centre will be rescinded due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Travellers are advised the Mabel Lake Forest Service Road (FSR) will be temporarily closed at the 19-kilometre marker from Monday, Sept. 9 to Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, due to a bridge replacement.

With campfire bans now lifted throughout the province within the Wildfire Management Branch's jurisdiction, many British Columbians may be planning to light a fire while enjoying the outdoors on the Labour Day long weekend.

An open burning prohibition has been in effect in the Southeast Fire Centre since July 8 and will remain in effect until Sept. 20 or until the public is otherwise notified.

Effective at noon on Aug. 26, 2013, the campfire ban in the Coastal Fire Centre was rescinded due to a decreased risk of wildfires. Campfires now will be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre.

Effective at noon on Monday, Aug. 26, campfires will be permitted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre.

More B.C. firefighting personnel and resources will be deployed out of province this week to help our neighbours to the south deal with an increase in wildfire activity.

British Columbia's Wildfire Management Branch is sending 41 firefighting personnel to Idaho to assist with fire suppression efforts there.

Effective at 12 noon on Wednesday, Aug. 21, campfires will remain prohibited in all areas of the Kamloops Fire Centre except the Clearwater Fire Zone.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, campfires and Category 3 open fires will be permitted in the following areas of the Coastal Fire Centre: from Courtenay north on Vancouver Island and on the Mainland from Hotham Sound north.
