The wildfire east of Lake Kookanusa and south of Cutts Road toward the Elk River is now 100% contained. This fire was discovered on July 4, 2015 and grew quickly and aggressively, prompting the evacuation of 200 people near Kragmont and further evacuation alerts in nearby communities.

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a 105-hectare wildfire on the east side of Whitesail Lake within Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, about 91 kilometres southwest of Houston.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, the existing campfire ban in the Coastal Fire Centre will be expanded to cover all areas within the fire centre's jurisdiction, including the "Fog Zone" to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.
