The Province is launching the BC Heat Alert and Response System (BC HARS) to help ensure people, First Nations communities and local governments have the tools they need to stay safe during heat events.

New funding for the BC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program will help improve access to healthy, locally grown food for lower-income British Columbians and people who are pregnant, while increasing the number of Elders and seniors participating in the program.

People living in Colwood, Langford, Highlands and Metchosin now have access to expanded primary care and social supports with the opening of the Westshore Community Health Centre (CHC) on June 1, 2022 in Colwood.

Langley residents in need of end-of-life care will soon have increased options for community hospice closer to home as construction of the new 15-room hospice completes.

People will benefit from the major expansion at Penticton Regional Hospital as final renovations wrap up at the David E. Kampe Tower.

People needing surgery at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) will have increased access to care as the provincial government has approved the business plan for the second phase of expansion, adding 13 new operating rooms (ORs) and 39 new perioperative patient bays at the facility.

Communities in British Columbia are encouraged to support seniors so they can live active and independent lives as $500,000 in a new round of age-friendly grants are available for application.
