To ensure people have faster access to life-saving radiation treatment, BC Cancer is taking action with measures that reduce wait times and increase capacity into the future.

People accessing public health care in the Lower Mainland and throughout B.C. are benefiting from stable, consistent and supportive patient care as 142 workers returned to Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) employees on March 31, 2023.

The Province is taking steps to build safer workplaces for health-care workers and patients by introducing a new security model across all health authorities, hiring more protection services employees and expanding funding to SWITCH BC, a new organization focused on addressing workplace safety.

People accessing health care in Vancouver will benefit from more consistent, dedicated and supportive patient care as 309 housekeeping workers return to the public system as Providence Health Care (PHC) employees.

People accessing health care in the Lower Mainland will benefit from more stable, consistent and supportive patient care as 194 housekeeping and food-service workers return to the public system as Fraser Health employees.

More seniors and Elders in British Columbia will be able to maintain their independence and stay in their own homes as the Province funds an expansion of the United Way’s Better at Home program to serve more than a dozen new communities.
