Government is supporting B.C. social enterprises that make a positive impact as they pursue social, cultural and environmental goals in communities throughout the province.

The Government of British Columbia has proclaimed May 1-7, 2016, as North American Occupational Safety and Health Week in B.C. and encourages employers and workers to get involved by planning an event or activity around this year’s theme – make safety a habit.

Eighteen job seekers will gain valuable work experience and contribute to the success of five local festivals, sports and community events, thanks to almost $110,000 in provincial funding from the Community and Employer Partnerships program.

More than 5,500 British Columbians across the province are receiving training for jobs in their communities, thanks to an investment of almost $36 million from the provincial and federal governments under the Canada-British Columbia Job Fund.

British Columbia is celebrating the multiple sectors that make up B.C.’s vibrant and flourishing creative industry, including film, television, interactive media, music, magazine and book publishing.

The second anniversary of B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint was marked, April 25, 2016.

The governments of Canada and British Columbia announced that a total of $7 million will be available under the Canada-BC Job Grant to help businesses provide their current or new employees with skills training.
