People experiencing homelessness in Surrey may soon have permanent homes with supports to help them rebuild their lives.

The Province has proposed a number of legislative changes that will clarify provincial and local government authorities, help local governments better respond to community needs and support British Columbia’s affordable housing goals.

Responding to the extreme cold weather conditions, the Province is funding 20 new shelter spaces so people experiencing homelessness will have a warm place to stay.

Families and single people with low to moderate incomes will benefit from a new 132-unit affordable housing development just completed in Langford.

In response to Revelstoke’s need for more affordable housing for people, the Province has purchased a 1.21-hectare (three-acre) school property.

Dozens of people experiencing homelessness are about to have access to safe and secure homes with the opening of Goodacre Place, a 24-unit supportive housing project that also includes space for emergency short-term beds.
