A new transit-oriented development with hundreds of new homes, community amenities and a transit hub is coming to the Uptown area of Saanich on several parcels of land, including two recently bought by the B.C. government.

Premier David Eby has issued the following statement marking International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination:

Nearly 2,000 new affordable homes are on the way for renters in Metro Vancouver, through partnerships between the Province and local non-profit housing providers.

Students at Douglas College will soon have access to affordable on-campus housing for the first time as construction starts on one of the Province’s largest capital investments in student housing.

As part of Budget 2024 measures that will increase supply and make homes more affordable and accessible, the Province is taking action against speculators and those who profit from “flipping” homes.

BC Builds, the Province’s new initiative to build more housing for people with middle incomes, will benefit from $2 billion in additional financing from the Government of Canada to help deliver thousands more homes that people with middle incomes who live and work in B.C. can afford.
