British Columbians will now find it easier to “Get Good and Ready” in the event of an emergency, with the new Partners in Preparedness Program.

Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) is now available for eligible British Columbians in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (including municipalities, unincorporated areas and First Nations) who may have been impacted by flooding that began on April 26, 2018.

Communities throughout B.C. are now benefiting from $33.5 million in provincial emergency preparedness funding.

With the potential for continued flooding in the Interior regions of the province, residents need to be vigilant with their safety.

As flood waters continue to rise throughout the province, the Government of British Columbia is assisting local governments and First Nations communities, as needed.

The Government of British Columbia is urging caution and encouraging the public to prepare for localized flooding, as water levels are rising in the interior of the province due to increased precipitation, an above average snowpack and increased snowmelt.

Today, the governments of Canada and British Columbia announced approximately $10.7 million in federal and provincial funding to support work on 30 projects under the National Disaster Mitigation Program (NDMP).

With Okanagan Lake having receded to a safe level as of July 29, the 90-day deadline for residents who may have been impacted by the flooding that began May 4 to apply for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) has been set as Oct. 27, 2017.
