Following two summers marked by a surge in highway fatalities, the B.C. government is taking action to make roads safer and place higher penalties on those who drive dangerously.

This week has been marked by several fatal motor vehicle incidents on highways throughout British Columbia.

At the 39th annual Police Honours Night at Government House, 154 people in law enforcement were recognized for their bravery and dedication.

The Province is urging people on B.C.’s North Coast to prepare and be diligent as Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued weather alerts for heavy rain, strong winds and freezing temperatures, expected to arrive Saturday, Nov. 20 and last until Tuesday, Nov. 23.
