Since the Client Support Team began accepting requests on Oct. 20, 2011, 155 individuals and their families have taken advantage of the team's services. To date, 78 of the cases referred to the Client Support Team - more than 50 per cent - have been resolved and the other cases are in progress.

Minister of Social Development Stephanie Cadieux issued the following statement in recognition of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities:

More than 60 individuals and their families have taken advantage of the B.C. government's new cross-ministry Client Support Team since the team began accepting requests Oct. 20.

Minister of Social Development Stephanie Cadieux spoke with the Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) board chair, who agreed to end the variable pay compensation system, which provides incentive plan performance bonuses at CLBC.

Minister of Social Development Stephanie Cadieux announced that the Client Support Team to assist individuals and families concerned about services provided by Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) can now be contacted through the government website at www.gov.bc.ca.

The Province has identified 72 successful proponents to deliver services through the new WorkBC Employment Services Centres, scheduled to open April 2012.

The Province and Community Living BC (CLBC) are investing an additional $8.9 million to help provide priority services to adults with developmental disabilities and their families.

The Province has expanded its orthotics supplement for income assistance clients to ensure basic mobility needs are addressed.
