Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, has issued the following statement on Bike to Work and School Week:

Emil Anderson Construction has been awarded the contract for a four-laning project on the Trans-Canada Highway that will improve safety, efficiency and capacity along this section of Highway 1.

New maintenance contracts with stricter safety measures have been awarded for three service areas in northern B.C., ensuring better highway conditions during winter weather.

Solid efficient transportation infrastructure is critical to connecting communities, boosting trade and tourism, and strengthening the economy and middle class. 

Government is increasing service on 10 ferry routes that were cut in 2014, restoring 2,700 round-trip sailings for people living in coastal communities.

Budget 2019 is creating opportunities for all British Columbians by delivering a new B.C. Child Opportunity Benefit for kids up to the age of 18, removing interest from B.C. student loans, reducing taxes for businesses and investing in clean energy and climate solutions.

A tender has been issued to improve safety and capacity on the Trans-Canada Highway, by widening it to four lanes and upgrading the existing brake check.
