Construction tenders for three projects will be posted on BC Bid this spring to expand the Trans-Canada Highway to four lanes. 

A project to resurface Highway 16 from West Twin Creek to Bell Mountain Road has gone to tender.

A new bridge is being planned to replace the drainage culverts at the 8th Street crossing of Dawson Creek.

The Province intends to better connect communities west of Quesnel and south of Highway 16 to jobs and opportunities in the Northwest with a new crossing over the Blackwater River and improvements to service roads in the region.

Work will begin soon on a number of projects in the Peace district.

The Province is investing up to $150,000 to study the feasibility of expanding Ashcroft Terminal to improve efficiency of the transportation corridors to and from the Lower Mainland ports.

As part of the Province’s over $80-million investment in emergency preparedness and public safety, MLA for Chilliwack-Hope Laurie Throness has announced a number of flood prevention projects for the region on behalf of Minister of State for Emergency Preparedness Naomi Yamamoto.

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and B.C. Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Todd Stone announced that work is beginning to improve the Malahat section of the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) between Shawnigan Lake Road and Aspen Road.

Construction is about to begin on a $59-million Highway 1 project through Langley, which will create better traffic flow and increase capacity on a key stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway.
