This summer, pedestrians and cyclists in the community of French Creek will find improved safety conditions with planned upgrades to Roberton Boulevard between Barclay Crescent and Lowrys Road, announced Parksville-Qualicum MLA Michelle Stilwell on behalf of Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. 

Todd Stone, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, released the following statement on community support and Prince George’s decision to help fund inter-community transit service along the Highway 16 corridor:

With more winter weather predicted for the Lower Mainland over the weekend, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is further strengthening its strategy for maintaining safe travel over the Alex Fraser Bridge.

Road repairs are nearly completed along a 40-metre-long section of Highway 4 located approximately five kilometres south of the Ucluelet junction.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has invested nearly $6 million in safety and efficiency upgrades for the Sea-to-Sky Highway this year, improving travel for vehicles, tour buses, and other commercial vehicles, as well as for cyclists.

Northbound motorists on Highway 97 will experience improved conditions at the northbound pullout, approximately 10 kilometres south of Williams Lake, as work to improve the local amenities at this rest area is now complete.

Drivers are advised that lane closures have gone into effect on the Alex Fraser Bridge for public safety reasons.
