To ensure ongoing safe and reliable operation of the Kootenay Lake Ferry during spring low-water levels, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is implementing the following service changes.  

Drivers are advised that Highway 14 west of Sooke remains closed in both directions due to significant tree-fall, downed power lines and hazardous road conditions.

Drivers are advised that beginning Monday, Feb. 11, at 5 a.m., a Highway 97 detour will be available using nearby Callan Road.

An alternate route on the west side of Okanagan Lake, using the Trout Creek Forest Service Road between Peachland and Summerland, is now available to people travelling around the Highway 97 closure near Callan Road.

The Province has shortlisted three pre-qualified bidding teams to participate in the request for proposals (RFP) stage to design and build the Highway 91/17 upgrade project.

Drivers are advised that Highway 97 remains closed to traffic in both directions due to a significant rock fall near Callan Road north of Summerland.
