A complete, comprehensive and co-ordinated look into improving traffic flow on southern Vancouver Island is the focus of a new transportation strategy being launched by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. 

High risk of avalanche has closed the Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden, which will be closed with no detour until approximately 8 o'clock this evening.

Improvements to the Cowichan River (Silver) Bridge in Duncan are complete, increasing stability and safety at this crossing for years to come.

The main alternate route to Highway 14 is now safer and more efficient for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, with the opening of a new two-lane bridge and paved shoulders on Gillespie Road at Roche Cove.

Twenty-two new highway cameras were added to the DriveBC network in 2018 and cameras at existing locations have been upgraded, resulting in 70 new webcam views to provide more information about current conditions on B.C. highways.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure reminds travellers about increased traffic on B.C. highways during the next couple of weeks.

Construction is starting on phases two and four of the Lower Lynn Improvement Project that will significantly shorten commute times and improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists on the North Shore.
