An area restriction order that's been in effect near a fire burning south of the Chelaslie River, including sections of Entiako Provincial Park, is being amended effective immediately to increase public access to those areas and reopen some forest service roads.

Despite cooler temperatures and recent rain showers in some areas, campfires are still prohibited in a large part of the Cariboo Fire Centre.

Effective at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, campfires will once again be allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

The Northwest Fire Centre has issued an area restriction order for areas surrounding the China Nose fire, currently burning about 15 km southeast of Houston, effective 6:00 p.m. Aug. 14.

Effective at 4 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2014, campfires and open burning will be prohibited in some areas of the Northwest Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.
