The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is committed to improving safety on Cosens Bay Road through Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park.

BC Parks is planning to conduct an eight-hectare prescribed burn in Monck Provincial Park, northeast of Merritt, in an effort to restore the area’s ecosystem and reduce wildfire risks.

Over the past five years, BC Parks has invested approximately $60 million in park facilities. 

Visitors can soon start booking trips to two popular BC Parks destinations drawing outdoor enthusiasts from around the world – Berg Lake trail and the Bowron Lake canoe circuit.

Reservations for the winter holiday season at Porteau Cove Provincial Park can be made for the first time.

Current weather conditions allow private landowners, BC Wildfire Service personnel and industry partners to reduce wildfire risks by burning piles of wood debris.

British Columbia’s world-renowned provincial park system continues to attract global attention, with visitors from outside B.C. making up more than one-quarter of a record number of camping reservations in 2015.

Effective at noon on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, the current open burning ban will be completely rescinded within the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.
