It’s time to enjoy what travellers from around the world came to Vancouver and the coastal mountains for this summer: B.C.’s incredible tourism experiences.

The Government of B.C. will study the costs and benefits of a possible highway link between the Sunshine Coast and Metro Vancouver.

Effective at noon on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, all open fires will once again be allowed throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

As part of its commitment under the Provincial Domestic Violence Plan, the B.C. government is investing $500,000 to increase access to transition house and safe-home services for Aboriginal women and children who are affected by domestic violence.

Effective at noon on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will once again be permitted in all forest districts within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdictional area, except parts of the South Island Forest District.

Post-secondary education and training will be more accessible and affordable thanks to a new $1,200 grant from the provincial government.

Effective at noon on Friday, Aug. 28, campfires will once again be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Pacific Marine Drive has been reopened to vehicle traffic between Lake Cowichan and Port Renfrew. Fire crews have removed danger trees and cleared away debris related to the Spring Road/Lizard Lake along this route.
