Mark and Pauline Adamson are being recognized by the Province through the Minister’s Award for Innovation and Excellence in Woodlot Management for the North and for being the top provincial performer.

The Province is asking the public not to take firewood from the Wycotte Flat area due to an outbreak of Douglas fir tussock moth.

With cooler weather coming to many parts of B.C. and more people thinking about lighting their fireplaces or wood stoves, Vancouver Island residents are reminded that anyone who cuts, collects or uses firewood must ensure that it is harvested legally.

Thirteen B.C. communities are leading the nation as they adopt innovative and safe mass timber technology for taller wood buildings that are faster to build, better for the environment and create new jobs and opportunities for forest communities in the province.

British Columbia’s forest industry is facing difficult times. In the Interior, the end of the pine beetle cut, lower prices for lumber, and back-to-back catastrophic wildfire seasons have led to a number of sawmill closures. This has created hardship for workers and uncertainty for the communities that depend on forestry for their livelihoods.
