Thirty-five First Nations throughout B.C. are receiving $9.8 million in federal and provincial funding to develop clean-energy projects that will help them meet their energy needs efficiently and sustainably, while creating more jobs for people in their communities.

The Province is securing a better future for B.C.’s forests and communities by taking better care of more old-growth forests, supporting local jobs and building a more sustainable and resilient forestry industry.

Local governments, First Nations, not-for-profit organizations and manufacturing businesses in northern B.C. are receiving funding that will create and protect jobs, promote economic diversification, clean-economy opportunities and infrastructure development.

Lyackson First Nation, Cowichan Tribes and the Province are celebrating a key reconciliation milestone that will enable the return of culturally signifciant land in the Cowichan River valley to two member communities of the Quw’utsun Nation.
