Several stretches of highway in the Surrey area are about to get a new look as work begins on a $5.2 million highway rehabilitation project for highways 10, 15, 91 and 99.

Kelowna will see expanded handyDART service hours that will benefit seniors and persons with disabilities, thanks to a funding lift by the province and the City of Kelowna.

Several repaving projects, including the resurfacing of over 60 kilometres of Highway 23N, will soon be underway in the Revelstoke area, bringing smoother roads and a more comfortable ride for local motorists, cyclists, tourists and industry.

Highway travelers in or through Malakwa will have a safer drive along the Trans-Canada Highway as the construction to replace the Malakwa Bridge and four-laning has finished ahead of schedule.

Several road resurfacing projects are set to kick off in the Kamloops and Nicola Valley areas, including on Highway 97C in Logan Lake, Highway 8 outside of Merritt and on Douglas Lake and Long Lake Roads.

Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) is now available to eligible British Columbians in the District of West Vancouver who may have been impacted from the flooding that occurred last week.

Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone released the following statement on highway operations to deal with current flood conditions facing the Chetwynd and Dawson Creek areas of Northern British Columbia:

Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) is now available to eligible British Columbians in the Peace River Regional District area, including Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Fort St John, Hudson’s Hope, Pouce Coupe, Taylor, Tumbler Ridge and the First Nations communities of Saulteau and West Moberly who may have been impacted from the major flooding that occurred this past week.
