One hundred and twenty community organizations from around the province are receiving a total of $300,000 in multiculturalism grants to help celebrate British Columbia’s rich multicultural heritage and promote diversity and inclusiveness.

Imagine a world where every dated desk phone has been transformed into a smartphone; where cordless handsets connect to Wi-Fi; and where home phones can be taken anywhere without long distance or roaming fees.

Trade missions are an important part of British Columbia’s strategy to support economic growth and job creation throughout the province, as well as BC Jobs Plan objectives.

Minister of International Trade and Minister Responsible for Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism Teresa Wat issued the following statement as Ben Stewart announces his intent to leave the position as B.C.’s Special Representative in Asia:

While British Columbia is not a well-known exporter of jingle bells, nutcrackers or mistletoe, the province does spread cheer during the holiday season with other festive exports.

British Columbia is celebrating Multiculturalism Week Nov. 13-19, 2016, a time to acknowledge the contributions of B.C.’s multicultural society and recognize the many ways diversity helps nurture inclusiveness, understanding and mutual respect, and connects communities throughout the province.

The British Columbia government is providing $300,000 through the Multiculturalism Grant program to support organizations offering activities that promote B.C.’s rich multicultural identity and heritage, and foster cross-cultural understanding and respect.
