The Government of Canada, the government of British Columbia and TransLink announced the construction schedule for the next 12 months and the final station names for the Evergreen Line, the newest rapid transit project in Metro Vancouver opening in summer 2016.

The new Port Mann Bridge will open to eight lanes of traffic on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, and tolling will commence after one free week, on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Registration with TReO, the tolling system on the new Port Mann Bridge, has been open only since Sept. 17, but more than 200,000 vehicles have already been registered for electronic tolling accounts and decals.

The first week of tolling will be free to families and commuters when the new Port Mann Bridge officially opens in December. Transportation Minister Mary Polak made the announcement today at a worker appreciation barbeque that celebrated the Port Mann Bridge's official inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's widest bridge.
