Effective at noon Pacific time on Oct. 13, 2017, Category 3 fires will once again be permitted within the Columbia Fire Zone in the Southeast Fire Centre, due to a decreased risk of wildfire in that region. Category 2 open fires have been allowed in the Columbia Fire Zone since Sept. 30.

The Trans-Canada Highway west of Revelstoke is currently closed in both directions, after debris blocked a channel on Camp Creek sending water and other material flowing over the highway.

Skilled trades students in the Revelstoke and Arrow Lake school districts will benefit from a three-year, $15-million investment by the B.C. government to support youth trades programs with the purchase of new trades training equipment.
