Focus on powering major projects, training B.C. workers, higher-paying jobs

British Columbia’s chief forester has set a new allowable annual cut (AAC), the maximum amount of timber that can be harvested each year, for Tree Farm Licence (TFL) 49 near Vernon in the Thompson-Okanagan region.

The Province is making 187 amendments to 38 regulations across 10 ministries to reduce red tape, improve permitting timelines and make government services more efficient and accessible.

Efforts are underway to diversify and strengthen British Columbia’s forestry sector with a new office in London, England.

Local residents are invited to share their input on the development of the West Central Vancouver Island (WCVI) Forest Landscape Plan (FLP), which will guide long-term forest management in the area.

ʼNa̱mǥis First Nation and the Province are one step closer to a joint decision-making agreement that will support predictable harvesting, job creation and sustainable forestry operations on the north Island.

The communities of Vanderhoof, Fort St. James and Fraser Lake will be better able to manage forest resources, protect against wildfires and secure local forestry jobs with the expansion of community forests in these areas.
