Community Meetings in the B.C. Columbia River Basin

The voices, concerns and perspectives of Basin residents continue to inform the Treaty modernization process.  Here are some upcoming opportunities to learn more and make your voice heard.

Public virtual information session, December 19:  The Province of B.C. will hold another public virtual information session on December 19, 6 - 7:30 p.m. PST / 7 - 8:30 p.m. MST to summarize key elements of the Agreement-in-Principle, share updates about progress towards Treaty modernization and answer questions.  Register here.  A recording of the session will be available after the session on YouTube and the B.C. Columbia River Treaty website.

Community meetings in early 2025:  The Columbia River Treaty Team is planning in-person public meetings early in the new year in B.C. communities impacted by the Treaty.  Virtual attendance options will also be available.  Stay tuned for meeting dates in or near your community.

Submit your feedback on the Agreement-in-Principle:  Feedback from residents, local governments and First Nations has been key in ensuring the needs of the B.C. Basin have been reflected during negotiations to modernize the Treaty.  Your views on the Agreement-in-Principle are still critical as both countries work towards ratifying a renewed Treaty.  Even after a modernized Treaty is in force, the public’s feedback will be important in the implementation of key elements.

We encourage you to fill out the online feedback form or email your written submission to columbiarivertreaty@gov.bc.ca.  Please see the guidelines for written submissions.
