New Report Examines Duncan Dam, Hugh L. Keenleyside Dam and Arrow Lakes Reservoir Scenarios

The Treaty Review Team heard from residents and Sounding Board members about the need to explore additional options related to Duncan and Hugh L. Keenleyside Dams. During the second Sounding Board meeting held on July 5, 2013 in Cranbrook, Alan Thomson of Mountain Station Consultants provided a presentation that expanded the bookend alternatives previously modelled and considered, at a high level, three options for Duncan Dam (status quo, decommissioning, and installing power generation), decommissioning of Hugh L. Keenleyside Dam and Arrow Lakes Generating Station, and issues and benefits of an Arrow Lakes Reservoir mid elevation constant pool scenario.

Alan Thomson’s report based on this presentation, High Level Description and Evaluation of Three Post 2024 Duncan Dam and Reservoir Operation Scenarios and a Constant Mid-Elevation Pool Scenario for Arrow Reservoir, is available at http://blog.gov.bc.ca/columbiarivertreaty/files/2012/07/High-Level-Description-and-Evaluation_Duncan-Dam-post-2024-and-Arrow-Reservoir-Mid-Elevation-Scenario.pdf
