VICTORIA - British Columbia's Community Gaming Grant Review has added five video forums to its schedule to accommodate groups and individuals from the communities of Port McNeill, Valemount, Revelstoke, Masset, Fort Nelson and surrounding areas.
Skip Triplett, appointed last month by Premier Christy Clark to lead the independent review, will hear the views of participants from those regions via video conferencing technology in sessions Aug. 17 and Aug. 24.
On Aug. 17, Triplett will welcome presentations from Port McNeill (1 p.m. to 2 p.m.), Valemount (2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and Revelstoke (4 p.m. to 5 p.m.).
On Aug. 24, he will welcome presentations from Masset (2 p.m. to 3 p.m.) and Fort Nelson (3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
Triplett is examining the role of government in allocating gaming revenue with input from charities, non-profits, community members, local government and others who would like to participate.
The Terms of Reference include reviewing and providing options for:
* Existing legislation governing community gaming grant funding.
* Funding formula.
* Criteria/eligibility for community gaming grants.
* Processes involved with applying for and receiving community gaming grants.
* A multi-year funding model.
* The future role of government in community gaming grants.
These video conferences are in addition to 14 review tour stops that Triplett will make in communities across the Province. The use of video conferences is designed to further widen participation and help reduce travel costs of the review.
Groups or individuals wishing to make an oral presentation during any of these videoconferences must register online at: www.communitygaminggrantreview.gov.bc.ca
Registration is recommended for anybody attending as the facilities have limited capacity.
