The New Chelsea Society has been selected as the non-profit operator for Legion Towers, an affordable rental housing development with 33 apartments for low-income seniors and persons with disabilities at 121 West 15 St. in North Vancouver.
Quick Facts:
- The New Chelsea Society is a non-profit housing society founded in 1952 by five Vancouver branches of The Royal Canadian Legion with a mandate to provide safe, affordable housing for limited income seniors and families in the Lower Mainland. With the addition of the 33 units at Legion Towers, the society currently operates over 780 housing units in the Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey and North Shore areas.
- The society was selected as the result of a Request for Expression of Interest proposal call issued in February.
- The apartments at Legion Towers are funded in part by the Province in order to preserve affordable housing for independent seniors and persons with disabilities.
