The Heritage Conservation Plan (HCP) for the Riverview Hospital Lands has been posted online, reporting the results of the public consultation process.
This plan is the result of the largest heritage-related public consultation for a provincially owned site in B.C.'s history. In developing this plan, government has followed through on its commitment to develop an HCP that acknowledges the historical importance of the site to citizens of British Columbia.
The plan presents a chronological history of the lands and an extensive statement of significance detailing the heritage values of the site. It also lists an inventory of character-defining elements at the lands that represent identified heritage values, and introduces recommended strategies for managing the heritage values of the site today, tomorrow and into the distant future.
The HCP was completed after extensive engagement between government, local municipalities, stakeholder groups and interested members of the public through a series of workshops, open houses, questionnaires and interviews to ensure stakeholder and community values were captured in the plan.
The HCP will be a key document informing future land use planning of the Riverview site.
The HCP can be found online at www.riverviewvalues.info.
