The damper and boiler control systems are being upgraded at Peace Arch Hospital to increase the hospital's fuel efficiency, maximizing employee safety and patient care while minimizing fuel usage.
The damper system is being installed and the boiler controls upgraded to ensure fuel is used more efficiently and safely for employees at Peace Arch Hospital. Achieving this will ensure a safer and more environmentally conscious approach to care.
The government of British Columbia is taking tangible action to significantly reduce carbon pollution produced by the public sector through a variety of initiatives. Some of these initiatives include energy conservation, waste reduction through improving efficiency and public engagement on climate change.
The project is a routine capital investment. The total project cost of $120,000 will be funded by the government of British Columbia.
The damper replacement and boiler controls upgrade are planned to be completed by February 2013.
Since 2001, more than $7 billion has been spent on health-capital projects in British Columbia. Over the next three years, British Columbia's health-care system will benefit from investments including new medical equipment and modernized health facilities as part of a $2.3-billion health-sector capital plan.
