Energy, Mines and Natural Gas Minister Rich Coleman announced today that James P. Hatton has been appointed to the BC Hydro board of directors.

James P. Hatton, QC, is a partner at Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP. Currently, Hatton is a director of the Central City Foundation. He has served on boards including the board of governors of Royal Roads University and the governing council of the National Research Council of Canada.

Hatton was president of The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society for six years, and remains an honorary life director of that organization. He is a former member of the Judicial Advisory Committee for British Columbia. Hatton holds a bachelor of commerce and a bachelor of laws from the University of British Columbia.

Board directors are responsible for the overall direction of the company. They are responsible for overseeing conduct of business, supervising management and ensuring that all major issues affecting the business affairs of the corporation are given proper consideration.
