Dr. Perry Kendall, provincial health officer for British Columbia, has been awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal.
Dr. Kendall has devoted his professional life to promoting and pursuing innovative health-care practices in British Columbia. His efforts have focused on the prevention of disease, injury and disability and the promotion of population health. Dr. Kendall assumed the position of provincial health officer for the province of British Columbia on May 3, 1999.
The medal, which commemorates the 60th year of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, recognizes people who have dedicated themselves to serving their community, their country and their fellow Canadians. Over the course of the year, the British Columbia government will award approximately 760 Jubilee medals.
