To the delight of spirit enthusiasts, connoisseurs and collectors, select BC Liquor Stores will release a wide range of global spirits this weekend at the annual Premium Spirit Release.

On Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, customers will be able to choose from more than 85 new, classic and ultra-rare products to suit a variety of tastes and budgets.

This year’s release is chock-full of whiskies from around the world - from Kentucky bourbons, such as Pappy Van Winkle, to premium Irish, Canadian and Japanese whiskies and award-winning collectible scotches, such as the Lagavulin 37-year-old. An exclusive single cask of BenRiach 1998 - hand-selected by BC Liquor Stores spirit experts - will be included in the release. The event also includes cognacs from Courvoisier and a small-batch tequila from Herradura.

There are many premium products in the $50 to $100 range, but the pièce de résistance this year is a Macallan 62-year-old scotch in a Lalique crystal decanter, retailing for $25,000 and one of only 400 bottles produced worldwide.

A tasting with Dan Volway, brand ambassador for Macallan, Highland Park and Famous Grouse, will take place at the 39th and Cambie BC Liquor Store at 9:30 a.m on Nov. 1, 2014. Full details on spirit-tasting events can be found here: www.bcliquorstores.com/event
