The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a girl who died following a fall on Unnecessary Mountain near Lions Bay on Dec. 22, 2014.
She was Erin Kate Moore, aged seven, of Lions Bay.
On the morning of Dec. 22, Erin, several family members and other members of the community went for a hike on Unnecessary Mountain. While they were stopped for a break beside a creek, a rockslide occurred, trapping Erin. Despite the best efforts of family and community members and members of the Lions Bay and North Shore search-and-rescue teams, Erin could not be resuscitated.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
Erin’s family has been notified of her death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
