Residents and business owners in the Regional District of North Okanagan can look forward to improved Internet service in the rural Lumby area, as the government of B.C. announces a $200,000 investment for Internet service.
Along with a $50,000 grant from the Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust, rural Lumby area residents will benefit from the partnership between the B.C. government, the Regional District of North Okanagan and a local Internet service provider.
This one-time $200,000 investment complements work now underway in the neighbouring Cherryville area to expand its Internet infrastructure, bringing government’s total investment in connectivity for the area to $450,000.
Access to high-speed Internet will bring economic, educational and health benefits to local families and businesses. Improved service will help the vibrant, growing community market itself to the world and open doors to broader opportunities.
Today, 93% of British Columbians have access to high-speed Internet. This investment is part of government’s ongoing efforts to achieve 100% connectivity throughout the province by 2021.
