The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died in a motor vehicle incident near Fort St. John on March 5, 2016.
She was Heather Marina Barnfield, aged 52, of Whitehorse, Yukon.
Ms. Barnfield was the driver and sole occupant of a camper-van heading southbound on the Alaska Highway at about 11 p.m. on March 5. The van collided with a northbound tractor-trailer unit on the Charlie Lake hill, about eight kilometres west of Fort St. John. Ms. Barnfield was deceased at the scene. Road conditions were icy at the time.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Ms. Barnfield has been notified of her death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
