The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died following a skiing accident on Blackcomb Mountain on March 15, 2016.
She was Sarah Victoria Prunier, aged 33, of Whistler.
Ms. Prunier was skiing with a family member in a treed area on Blackcomb Mountain near the Seventh Heaven run on the morning of March 15, 2016. When she failed to arrive at the meeting point, the family member reported her missing to the ski patrol. As the ski patrol was launching a search, a member of the public reported finding Ms. Prunier unresponsive on the mountain. Preliminary indications are that she had fallen into a tree well.
Ms. Prunier was treated on scene by medical personnel as well as the ski patrol, but she could not be resuscitated.
The BC Coroners Service and Whistler RCMP continue to investigate this death.
Ms. Prunier’s family has been notified of her death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
