The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a youth who died in Lynn Creek in North Vancouver on March 28, 2016.
He was Cole Marsh, aged 17, of Coquitlam.
Cole went with friends to Lynn Canyon on March 28, 2016. At about 4:30 p.m. he jumped from the cliff adjacent to the creek into the waters below. Soon afterward, he was witnessed to go under the water and he did not resurface. Emergency services had been called but were unable to reach Cole in time to rescue him. High water levels in the creek precluded further recovery efforts at the time.
On April 19, 2016, North Shore Search and Rescue returned to the scene and team members were able to recover Cole from a pool six metres to nine metres (20-30 feet) deep, near where he had made his jump. He was deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and North Vancouver RCMP continue to investigate this death.
Cole’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the Coroners Service asks that media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
