The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following an ATV incident near Summerland on April 16, 2016.
He was David Gordon James Shackleton, aged 28, of Peachland.
Mr. Shackleton was a passenger on an ATV that was travelling on the Princeton-Summerland Road on the afternoon of April 16, 2016, when the driver lost control. Mr. Shackleton was thrown from the ATV into Trout Creek, which was running extremely high and fast at the time as a result of the spring runoff.
Searches at the time did not find Mr. Shackleton, but his family and friends continued to search the area for him. On May 15, 2016, family members and friends were successful in finding Mr. Shackleton, deceased, in the creek. Search-and-rescue aided in the recovery.
The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death.
