The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who was found deceased on the shore of Kamloops Lake on July 2, 2016.
He is Darin James Derkson, aged 49, of no fixed address.
On July 2, 2016, a boater who was beachcombing along the shores of Kamloops Lake came upon a deceased male on the shore of the lake. The beachcomber immediately notified the authorities, but Mr. Derkson was clearly deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate to determine the cause and manner of Mr. Derkson’s death. Foul play has been ruled out.
Mr. Derkson is believed to have entered the lake about 2 ½ months before he was found. Anyone who was in touch with him or is aware of his movements after the morning of April 18, 2016, is encouraged to call the Interior Region Coroners Office at 250 861-7429.
Mr. Derkson’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service requests that the media respect their privacy during this difficult time.
