The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who was found deceased in Maple Ridge on Sept. 8, 2016.
She is Darlene Stott, aged 56, of Maple Ridge.
A family member of Ms. Stott reported her missing to the RCMP on the morning of Sept. 8, 2016, after she had failed to return from a walk the previous day. A search was begun by RCMP and Search-and-Rescue.
Several hours later a passerby spotted Ms. Stott in a wooded area at the foot of a steep ravine near the intersection of 239A Avenue and 116 Street in Maple Ridge, only a few blocks from where she had been last seen. She was deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death. Foul play has been ruled out at this time.
Ms. Stott’s family has been notified of her death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
