The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died on Dec. 26, 2016, following a residential structure fire in Smithers.
She was Mary Ann Redman, aged 87, of Smithers.
On Dec. 25, 2016, Ms. Redman was taken to Bulkey Valley and District Hospital in Smithers after having been found injured by a neighbour. However, she succumbed to her injuries there the next day.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Ms. Redman has been notified of her death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
