Drivers can expect the following delays on the TransCanada Highway, 19 kilometres west of Revelstoke, as crews work to install the Remote Avalanche Control Systems.
Extended closures will be in effect on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m to 11 a.m., and on Thursday, Oct. 6, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. These closures are required to protect motorists from rock fall which may occur while crews are working on steep slopes above the highway.
Further closures are expected but will be less than 30 minutes, and will take place during daylight hours, Monday to Friday, and are as follows:
- Tuesday, Sept. 27, expect up to 30 minute delays at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
- Wednesday, Sept. 28, expect up to 30 minute delays at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
- Friday, Sept. 30, expect up to 30 minute delays at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
- Monday, Oct. 3, expect up to 30 minute delays at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
- Wednesday, Oct. 5, expect up to 30 minute delays at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
This project will require traffic interruptions through Dec. 15, 2016. Drivers are encouraged to schedule travel around these future planned closures and go to: www.DriveBC.ca for up to date information.
