The Mabel Lake Forest Service Road is completely reopened to traffic now that repairs to the roadbed have been completed.
Part of the road was damaged this spring after soil in one area became heavily saturated with water and caused large-scale slumping.
About 500 metres of the roadbed was reconstructed between the 11-kilometre mark and the 11.5-kilometre mark. The work included improving the road’s alignment to enhance motorist safety and making upgrades to the road’s drainage.
Public access to the main entrance of Mabel Lake Provincial Park was not affected by the temporary closure.
The Mabel Lake Forest Service Road was reopened on July 3, 2017.
