Young people in Coquitlam will be able to discover the skills they will need for tomorrow’s in-demand occupations, and engage in a direct dialogue with local employers and post-secondary schools about upcoming career opportunities at WorkBC’s Career Education Day.
Career Education Day will be at Pinetree Secondary school, on March 28, 2017.
Career Education Day is a day where students in grades 10-12 can explore, experience and learn about a variety of careers through hands-on programs, business experts, post-secondary institutions and more. This one-day event is a chance for high school students nearing graduation to learn about upcoming career opportunities available in Coquitlam and the surrounding area.
Parents, teachers and career counsellors may benefit, too—by discovering ways to educate and support youth in their career exploration.
The Find Your Fit portion of the event will be open to the public from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Find Your Fit is part of B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint commitment to re-engineer education and deliver the skilled workforce needed in B.C.’s growing economy. The tour has had more than 213, 000 participants so far, and was most recently in Merritt.

“Career Day empowers youth to find a career they are interested in and learn first-hand what skills and education local employers and post-secondary institutes are looking for. With almost 1 million job openings anticipated for BC by the year 2025, we are helping British Columbians get the skills and education they need to be first in line for those jobs.”
