On Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, the Province will increase funding by $6 million annually for the BC Healthy Kids Program, bringing the current investment in the program to almost $30 million a year.
The BC Healthy Kids Program helps low-income families with the cost of dental and vision care for their children. More than 166,000 children will benefit from these changes.
The additional funding will include coverage for hearing aids, which addresses a current gap between British Columbia and other provinces with respect to the provision of hearing aids for children in low-income families. The funding also will improve children’s dental rates and increase the limit for children’s dental services from $1,400 to $2,000 every two years.
